Terms of Care

Overview

These Terms of Care outline the agreement between you ("Client") and Nurtured Nest ("Doula," "we," or "us") regarding the provision of professional birth doula services. By engaging our services, you agree to the terms outlined below.

Scope of Services

Nurtured Nest provides non-medical birth support services, which may include:

• Emotional and physical support for new parents
• Advocacy and guidance for birth preferences
• Comfort techniques including breathing and positioning
• Prenatal consultations and birth plan development
• Continuous labour support
• Postpartum follow-up visits

Important: A doula is not a medical professional. Our services complement but do not replace medical care from physicians, midwives, or nurses. We do not perform clinical tasks, make medical diagnoses, or provide medical advice.

Consultations

We offer a complimentary 20-minute introductory call to determine if we are a good fit for your needs. This call does not constitute a commitment to services from either party.

Confidentiality

All information shared during our professional relationship — including health details, birth preferences, and personal circumstances — is kept strictly confidential. We will not share your information with any third party without your written consent, except as required by law.

On-Call Availability

Your doula will be on call for your birth from 38 weeks of pregnancy until delivery. In the rare event your doula is unavailable (due to illness or another birth in progress), we will arrange a qualified backup doula at no additional cost.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

• Cancellations made more than 30 days before the estimated due date will receive a full refund minus the non-refundable consultation fee.
• Cancellations made within 30 days of the estimated due date may be eligible for a partial refund at our discretion.
• If a birth occurs before the doula can arrive, a partial refund will be provided, and postpartum visits will still be honoured.

Limitation of Liability

Nurtured Nest provides non-medical support services. We are not liable for birth outcomes, medical decisions made by healthcare providers, or any complications that may arise during pregnancy, labour, or postpartum. Our role is to support, advocate, and comfort — not to provide medical care.

Service Area

We serve families in Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Travel outside the GTA may be accommodated with additional travel fees, discussed in advance.

Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms of Care at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
